Xorg.conf

• Jos olet nvidian näytönohjaimen omistaja, suosittelen asentamaan ajurin nvidia-glx (ohjeet ubuntu tutuksi wikikirjassa) ja käyttämään asetusten säätöön nvidia-settings ohjelmaa

Näyttötilaa eli näytön resoluutiota ja virkistystaajuutta voi säätää valikosta Järjestelmä > Asetukset > Näytön tarkkuus.

• Jos näytön resoluutiota tai virkistystaajuutta ei pysty säätämään, tai jos vain muuten tarvitsee säätää näytön asetuksia , niin ehkä helpoin tapa on kirjoittaa komentoriviin: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Ensin kannattaa kuitenkin tehdä varmuuskopio xorg.conf-tiedostosta jota ko. ohjelma muokkaa, komennolla

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.bup

(sudo=suorita pääkäyttäjänä cp=kopioi) Jos kone ei jostain syystä toimi asetusten säätämisen jälkeen, niin vanhan xorg.conf:in saat takaisin kirjoittamalla komentoriviin:

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.bup /etc/X11/xorg.conf

• Ohjelmaan tulee muutaman kohdan jälkeen valikko, josta voi valita Advanced Medium Easy.
• Kun valitsee Medium-nappulan se kysyy suurinta näyttötilaa ja virkistystaajuutta johon näyttö pystyy (omassa näytössä 1280x1024 60Hz).
• Kun ohjelman kaikki kohdat on käynyt läpi, niin käynnistä Ubuntu uudelleen.
• Ubuntu käynnistyy suurimpaan resoluutioon, jonka valitsit ohjelmassa.
• Sen jälkeen voi valita Näytön tarkkuus-ohjelmasta mieleisensä näyttötilan.

Nvidia TwinView / Kaksi näyttöä tai tv out (s-video tai composite)

Tee varmuuskopio xorg.conf-tiedostosta jota muokkaat, komennolla sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.bup (Vanhan xorg.conf:in saat takaisin kirjoittamalla komentoriviin: sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.bup /etc/X11/xorg.conf) Kirjoita komentoriviin: sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf (Avaa tekstinkäsittelyohjelman) Etsi tiedostosta Device-kohta (Huom. esimerkki) Ennen:

• Käyttäessäsi laajakuvanäyttöä (lcd) joka ei hyväksy kaikkia näyttötiloja SIGNAALI EI KELPAA
• Jos ubuntu on asennettu ja tulee SIGNAALI EI KELPAA:
• Ctrl+Alt+f1
• Kirjaudu sisään
• kirjoita sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
• Mene eteenpäin siihen asti kun tulee näyttötilalista.
• Ota rasti pois 1280x1024
• Laita rasti 1280x768
• OK

• Sitten jossain vaiheessa kysytään: Simple Medium Advanced -> Valitse Advanced

• Vastaa kysymyksiin, Horizontal=vaakasuuntainen, Vertical=pystysuuntainen (Löytyvät näytön ohjekirjasta)
• Sitten kun pääset pois ohjelmasta komenna:
• sudo reboot
• Jvc 20" laajakuva näyttää näyttötilaksi 1360x768 vaikka ubuntu 1280x768
